Boys Trip to Kiawah: Where Every Lie Feels Juicy

There are golf trips… and then there are golf trips. The kind you talk about for years. The kind where the group chat never dies. The kind where every shot—good or bad—becomes part of the story.

This was one of those.

The Pilgrimage to Kiawah

Kiawah Island isn’t just a destination—it’s a rite of passage. Tucked along the South Carolina coast, it’s where ocean winds, marshland beauty, and championship golf collide. And at the centre of it all sits the beast itself: The Ocean Course.

We rolled in with the crew, bags packed heavier than they needed to be, expectations sky high, and handicaps that didn’t quite match our confidence.

Standard.

First Look: The Ocean Course

You don’t really understand The Ocean Course until you’re standing on it.

It’s wide… but not forgiving.
It’s beautiful… but not friendly.
And the wind? It’s not a factor—it’s a personality.

Every hole feels like it was designed to test your ego just as much as your swing. And if you came in thinking you were striping it lately… Kiawah has a way of humbling you real quick.

The Clock on 18

There’s something iconic about walking up to the 18th and seeing that clock standing tall against the coastline.

It’s more than just a timepiece—it’s a checkpoint. A reminder. A silent judge of everything that just happened over the last 17 holes.

By the time we got there, the group was a mix of:

  • Guys grinding for one last par
  • Guys who stopped keeping score somewhere around hole 12
  • And one guy claiming he “found something” on 16

Classic.

We snapped a photo by the clock, because you have to. It’s one of those moments that feels bigger than the round itself.

The Lies (The Juicy Ones)

Let’s be honest—no boys trip is complete without a few… interpretations of the truth.

  • “I normally hit that 280 carry.”
  • “That wind just killed it.”
  • “Yeah, I found it… it just wasn’t playable.”

Out here, the lies hit different. Maybe it’s the ocean air. Maybe it’s the pressure. Or maybe it’s just part of the game.

Either way… they were juicy.

Off the Course

The rounds were elite—but the moments in between? That’s what made the trip.

Early morning range sessions that turned into side bets.
Post-round beers that turned into storytelling competitions.
Late-night laughs that made the bad shots worth it.

No one remembers every score.
Everyone remembers the moments.

Why We Do It

Trips like this aren’t just about golf.

They’re about:

  • Getting away
  • Competing with your boys
  • Laughing at yourself
  • And realizing that the best rounds aren’t always your lowest ones

Kiawah gave us everything—challenge, beauty, frustration, and a whole lot of stories.

Final Thoughts

If you’re thinking about a golf trip with your crew, put Kiawah at the top of the list.

Just be ready:

  • The wind will test you
  • The course will expose you
  • And your buddies will never let you forget a bad shot

And when you’re standing on 18, looking up at that clock…

You’ll know exactly why you came.

Juicy Lies.
Play for the memories.
